September vacation: Isla de Chiloé

It’s September, which in Chile means vacation time. Fantastic.

On September 18th and 19th, Chileans celebrate the Fiestas Patrias. September 18th is Chile’s Independence Day, while the 19th is known as the Day of the Glories of the Army. To celebrate, everyone takes those days off and some people, like myself, are lucky enough to have the whole week off from work to celebrate. Like I said, fantastic.

To make the most of the time off, a friend and I traveled south. We spent four wonderful days touring the beautiful island of Chiloé, the bustling port city Puerto Montt, and the breathtakingly beautiful town of Frutillar. Below are some choice photos of Chiloé, where we spent the majority of our time.
